Dear students,

I am delighted to welcome you to the University of Michigan. As chief health officer and executive director of University Health Service (UHS), I take your health and wellness seriously and look forward to supporting your well-being throughout your time at Michigan.

I would like to share a few important updates and resources:

  • The U-M vaccination policy was recently revised. Students in Michigan Housing are no longer required to receive a bivalent COVID-19 dose, but they are required to submit records of their COVID-19 vaccination and other routine immunizations. If you have not already submitted your information, please do so as soon as possible.
  • Domestic students should complete the UHS student health information form to submit health insurance information. F-1 and J-1 international students are automatically enrolled in U-M’s international student health insurance and do not need to complete this form.
  • Be on the lookout for an email from Michigan Medicine with a unique link and activation code to set up your patient portal. This will accelerate your ability to utilize UHS services and clinics.
  • UHS, Wolverine Wellness, and Counseling and Psychological Services will all be at orientation. For those of you attending, I hope you will stop by during the Resource Fair or attend our Campus Resource Sessions.

Welcome again and enjoy the rest of your summer.

Sincerely,

Robert D. Ernst, M.D.
