Cases increasing

The number of COVID-19 cases on campus and in Washtenaw county remains elevated –  Washtenaw county is currently a “Medium” COVID-19 community level. The more transmissible BA.2 subvariant of Omicron is felt to be the primary driver of the current wave of new cases (now accounting for 83.7% of cases in the Midwest). At this time, the only campus response metric being met is the threshold 3% percent positivity among asymptomatic testing through the campus Community Sampling and Tracking program. While campus cases increased last week, the majority of cases seen at University Health Service were mild.

Preventing COVID

In times of increased cases of COVID-19, the U-M community is empowered to make the best choices based on their individual risk. Actions the community can take to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other respiratory viruses include: getting vaccinated against COVID-19, including boosters when eligible; wearing a face covering when around others, especially indoors; and getting tested before attending social activities or following close contact exposures. What to know if you’ve been exposed 

If you are notified that you may have been a close contact to someone testing positive – regardless of your vaccination status – it is recommended that you wear a mask for 10 days following your last exposure and monitor for any symptoms. If your exposure was from a roommate or household contact, you should get tested 3-7 days later. Employees in the healthcare setting must continue to follow quarantine guidance per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Additional booster information

Please do not submit additional booster information beyond the initial booster to the university. Additional boosters are not currently required under university policy and therefore should not be submitted for verification.
