Dear students,
You don’t have to look around very hard to see that fall has arrived on our campus. Of course, that also means the arrival of other seasonal things, such as football, vaccination clinics (offering both flu and COVID-19 vaccines!), and likely increased feelings of stress.
Remember, we have a number of resources for your mental health. Here are just a few:
- Talk to a counselor. No matter the time of day or night, there is always someone available to talk to you. No problem is too big or too small. Counselors are embedded in schools and colleges, available through telehealth, and on call for urgent needs.
- Check in with a primary care provider. While infections, injuries, and sexual health concerns are frequent reasons students make appointments at UHS, the most common diagnoses are actually for mental health conditions. A medical provider can offer a number of supports, including medication management as well as diagnoses.
- Consider wellness coaching. Speak with a specially trained coach through a guided reflection of your well-being.
- Remember peer supports, like the Wolverine Support Network, Individual Peer Counseling, or Togetherall.
- Check out these innovative resource collections from the Well-being Collective: the Well-being Toolkit and the Mental Health Continuum of Care.
And remember there is no wrong door when you are asking for support. Take the first step and we will make sure you get where you need to go.
Stay healthy, Wolverines,
