I hope you enjoyed a restful fall break. With the semester well underway, remember to do what you can to prioritize your mental health. You have access to a number of free resources tailored to your needs.

For urgent or same-day support:

  • Visit the Counselor on Duty at CAPS. Call 734-764-8312 or come into CAPS on the 4th floor of the Michigan Union. When CAPS is closed, call 734-764-8312 for 24/7 counselor support.
  • Access virtual counseling through Uwill, which offers same-day, after-hours, and weekend appointments.
  • Call U-M Psychiatric Emergency Service (PES) at 734-936-5900 to determine if PES is the best place for you or a loved one to be seen. Please note that a visit to PES may incur fees, which are the patient’s responsibility.
  • Call or text the national suicide and crisis lifeline at 988.

Don’t Miss Your Shot: Vaccination Clinics Underway Now
Respiratory season is ramping up, so getting your vaccinations should be a top priority. Clinics across campus and at the health service offer both the 2025-26 influenza vaccine and the 2025-26 COVID-19 vaccine. Learn more about eligibility for the COVID-19 vaccine.

Call for Nominations: George Orley Student Mental Health Advocate Award
This award recognizes college students for outstanding leadership and a commitment to improving campus mental health through meaningful advocacy, raising awareness, or reducing stigma. Submit a nomination for someone you know or yourself by November 7. 

Get Home Safely: Free After-hours Transportation
As U-M students, remember you have a number of options for safe (and free) ways to get home after hours. U-M has partnered with Lyft to offer discounted rides, as well. Learn more about all of your options.

Campus Farm Stand
Every Thursday from 12-3 p.m. on Ingalls Mall through mid-November, the U-M Sustainable Food Program and the Campus Farm run a farm stand offering local and fresh produce. Students get a 30% discount.

Community Matters
Thank you to everyone who has already completed part 2 of the Community Matters online courses for Fall 2025! If you haven’t already completed part 2, there is still time. If you complete part 2 by October 31, you will be randomly entered to win a gift card from the U-M Tech Shop.

Student Caregivers: Register for Backup Care
If you are a student with caregiving responsibilities for children, adults, or elders, you now have access to subsidized backup care thanks to an expansion in U-M’s partnership with Bright Horizons. This resource was previously available only to benefits-eligible faculty and staff. Learn more and register now.

October 31: Bone Marrow Registry Drive
Between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Friday, October 31, the College of Pharmacy is hosting a drive to increase registered bone marrow donors. Stop by to learn more about this life-saving initiative.
