There are a couple different policies in place:

Michigan Medicine Infection Control Practices Policy (04-06-002) mandates that employees and volunteers document proof of immunity/vaccination to certain communicable diseases. These include:

  • Measles, mumps, rubella (German measles), often received as a two-dose MMR series
  • Varicella (chicken pox)
  • Pertussis as a Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) vaccination/booster, typically received every ten years

Immunity to those diseases will be documented in the Occupational Health Services (OHS) certified electronic medical record, Enterprise Health. If proof of immunity is not available, vaccines can be given. In some instances, blood can be drawn to assess immunity status.

Michigan Medicine Mandatory Influenza Vaccination Policy (04-06-030) requires all faculty, staff, learners and volunteers to be compliant with the policy by Dec. 1. This includes all employees who may be working remotely.
