Dear Ann Arbor Faculty and Staff,

We are pleased to share that so far 77 percent of University of Michigan students planning to be on the Ann Arbor campus this fall and 65 percent of campus faculty and staff have reported and are confirmed to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. That’s nearly 50,500 U-M community members (excluding Michigan Medicine) who are confirmed as fully vaccinated! 

This is an important and positive step as a strong vaccination rate among our community is the best way to ensure a healthy and vibrant campus experience in the fall. We thank each and every one of you for your effort.

Here are the main updates at a glance:

  • If you have not yet self-reported your vaccination status to the university through Wolverine Access, please do so as soon as possible. 
  • A new resource is available to assist you with self-reporting. To self-report, please visit Wolverine Access, select “COVID-19,” then “Report COVID-19 Vaccination Status.”
  • Contact the Campus COVID-19 Call Center if you need additional assistance submitting your information. The Call Center can be reached at 734-936-7000, Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Please allow up to seven business days following your self-report submission date for a response from our verification team. If you do not receive an email, please do the following:
    • Check for changes in your vaccination status in ResponsiBLUE from a “No Record” to “Pending” or “Completed.” Be sure that you have the latest version of the App downloaded.
    • If ResponsiBLUE says “No Record,” call the Campus COVID-19 Call Center to check the status of your submission. 
  • If your submission was rejected, please review for accuracy and re-submit your information. Common reasons for rejected records include no name on the vaccination card, vaccination card was not legible or missing information.
  • Fully vaccinated individuals who self-report their vaccine information to the university are no longer required to wear a mask for most areas on U-M campuses under the U-M Face Covering Policy. 
  • At this time, the university continues to require face coverings regardless of vaccination status in classes, on campus transportation​ ​and in health care areas where patients may be present.
  • We are evaluating the student self-report vaccination rate along with other metrics established by the Campus Health Response Committee for adjusting COVID-19 mitigation strategies for fall. This includes continuing to monitor the spread of COVID-19 in the local and regional communities in order to make a decision regarding fall masking requirements in classes by July 31 as outlined in the Vaccine Metrics Guidance.

Our team of public health officials will continue to monitor the COVID activity on and around campus, watch the emergence of new and more contagious variants, including the Delta variant, and review guidance from other public health experts including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. We know that we must remain vigilant in our prevention efforts, but the single most important strategy is vaccination.
